ON THE WILD SIDE

Animal print has long been a style staple in my wardrobe. I vividly remember the first time I chose to purchase something of the like. It was 2001, my sophomore year of high school, and I donned a strapless, floor length Jessica McClintock tiger print dress to homecoming that year. (Speaking of which- who else was a Jessica McClintock fan? Her dresses were the JAM at my high school!) I believe it even had rhinestones on the bodice. And I’ll be damned if I wasn’t proud of that dress. Looking back on it now, it was ridiculous at best, but I felt like a bombshell that night; at a time when everything was just so awkward that it’s a sheer impossibility to feel so.

Unfortunately, that particular get-up also involved one too many trips to the tanning booth, the utter inability to properly groom my own eyebrows, and the overuse of a hair crimper, but you get the gist. Animal print has, and always will, make me feel ready to take a walk on the wild side. And this trend is back in a big way this fall.
