THINK PINK

think-pink

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, making it pretty dang hard not to think pink right now. According to The National Breast Cancer Foundation, one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer within their lifetime. One in eight. I’d like to venture a guess that you know more than eight women. That makes this a pretty scary statistic. What’s more- every 13 minutes, a woman will die of breast cancer. Think about it; that’s probably the amount of time it took you to get your coffee at Starbucks this morning. I know I can’t be the only one who feels these statistics deeply in my heart and soul. As the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women, it’s probably safe to say that someone in your life has been touched by this disease in some way.

Here’s the good news- there are over 3.3 million breast cancer survivors alive in the Unites States today. 3.3 million. And that’s not nothing, thanks in large part to research, support from funds raised during Breast Cancer Awareness Month and throughout the year, and early detection (i.e. monthly self breast exams and regular clinical exams). Did you know that when caught early, breast cancer has a 100% 5-YEAR SURVIVAL RATE? Seriously. Check your boobs, ladies.

Think you can’t make a difference? Think again. Put your money where your mouth is and pick products this month from retailers who help fund research and prevention, either hero product profits or direct donation.
